Hand of the Designer
A joint project by The Italian National Trust and Moleskine, The Hand of the Designer Book a collection of 462 reproductions of hand made sketches by 150 internationally recognized designers, including the Bouroullec Brothers, Michael Graves, Hella Jongerius and Karim Rashid. The A4 book is bound in the classical Moleskine Folio book layout and features a distinctive white cover along with all the iconic features of the Moleskine brand: hard rounded corner cover, elastic band and ribbon place marker. The book also comes with a 120-page Moleskine blank drawing sketch-book, for notes and free hand sketching.
The project is an intimate look into the creative process of the designer, and a celebration of the everlasting power of free hand sketching. Quick sketches, graphic signs, paper collages, tools to express an idea: the freedom given to designers in choosing the materials to send has created an wonderfully eclectic mix of work.
"The Hand of the Designer" follows the successful publication of Moleskine's The Hand of the Architect. Like its predecessor, The Hand of the Designer features an impressive array of original designs and never-before-seen works donated by designers Alberto Meda, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Fernando and Humberto Campana, Antonio Citterio, Massimiliano e Doriana Fuksas, Michael Graves, Jaime Hayon, James Irvine, Hella Jongerius, Piero Lissoni, Ross Lovegrove, Alessandro Mendini, Karim Rashid, and Oscar Tusquets, among many others.
The whole initiative was organized and will benefit FAI Fondo Ambiente Italiano (the Italian National Trust). Moleskine is the publishing partner. Curators are Francesca Serrazanetti and Matteo Schubert, together with design expert Doia Giovanola.
